Add 9 Aircraft Units, Garuda Pede Boss Can Pocket IDR 49 Trillion

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk Irfan Setiaputra believes his company's revenue can reach US$3 billion or Rp48.9 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp16,300 per US dollar).

This number increased slightly from the position in 2023 which amounted to USD 2.9 billion.

In the first quarter of 2024, continued Irfan, the revenue recorded by Garuda was 411 million US dollars.

This number is much higher than the same position last year.

"If you look at the trend, this should be the figure above 3 billion US dollars as an easier income, we can achieve it," said Irfan in a meeting with Commission VI of the DPR, quoted Thursday, July 4.

However, Irfan admitted, this income could not be achieved if it did not increase the number of aircraft fleets.

In fact, he said, the company's revenue could be battered if the target for additional fleets could not be achieved.

"If we don't add planes, our bloodstains to ride (income). Our work is too hard. But if we add (airplanes), most of the problems too. So this must be very conservative, very careful," he explained.

Irfan said that his party is targeting the addition of 8 new aircraft fleets this year.

Consisting of four wide-body units, and four narrow-body units.

Including one unit that contracted last year. So that the total addition of fleets becomes 9 units.

Last year we got an additional 4. This year we plan to plan 8+1. This one actually got approval 5 last year, but we haven't held it yet. So (addition) 8+1," he said.

Garuda Indonesia is recorded to have 71 aircraft by the end of 2023, lined up from 41 narrow body aircraft, and 30 wide body aircraft.

In detail, 41 units of Boeing 737-800NG, 22 units of Airbus 330 Series, and 8 units of Boeing 777-300ER.
