Emerald DrILLer Rig Jackup Ready To Operate In The Java Sea

JAKARTA - Jackup rig Emerald Driller which will be used in an offshore drilling project between PT Pertamina Drilling Services Indonesia (Pertamina Drilling), a subsidiary of Pertamina's Upstream Subholding, with PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore Southeast Sumatra (PHE OSES) and PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) have arrived in the Java Sea and are ready to operate.

Pertamina Drilling President Director, Avep Disasmita explained, previously, the Emerald Driller rig jackup had gone through an inspection and mobilization process from Qatar to the Java Sea using a Dry Tow, which was carrying a rig jackup on the Heavy Lift Vessel which covered more than 4,000 NM.

"During rig mobilization, senior crew Emerald Driller has also finished undergoing some mandatory training related to aspects of Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE), such as HSSE Introductions, SIKA, and PETROL," said Avep, Wednesday, July 3.

Avep said Pertamina Drilling, PHE OSES, and PHE ONWJ had carried out full-condition inspections of the Emerald Driller rig jackup in Qatar in March-April 2024, followed by training to the entire Emerald Driller crew in May 2024.

Rig Jackup is a floating platform and has three legs that can be lifted down. Jackup-type rigs can be used to drill exploration wells as well as development wells (development). Emerald Driller is a rig jackup with type BMC 375, equipped with a spud can tip, which suits the needs of the Java Sea.

In this project, Pertamina Drilling collaborates with ADES Group, a Saudi Arabian drilling service company that operates offshore and offshore rigs along the Middle East and Asia, to provide an Emerald DrILLer rig jackup with a magnitude of 3,000 horsepower (hp) that can drill to a depth of 30,000 feet.

"The important role of Pertamina Drilling in an effort to support the achievement of the national oil production target of 1 million barrels per day (BOPD) and gas of 12 billion cubic feet per day (BSCFD) standards to meet domestic energy needs are increasingly visible," concluded Avep.
