PT Sang Hyang Seri Supply Rice Seeds For 7,000 Ha Sawah Central Java

JAKARTA - PT Sang Hyang Seri, a member of the BUMN Food Holding ID FOOD, is believed to distribute rice seeds for 7,000 hectares (ha) of rice fields in the province of Central Java. This step is a form of contribution from Food SOEs in increasing national agricultural productivity.

President Director of PT Sang Hyang Seri (SHS) Adhi Cahyono Nugroho said the rice seeds for 7,000 ha of rice fields will focus on distribution in Pemalang Regency, Central Java. This is part of the distribution of 175,000 kg of seed assistance for the Plant Index Improvement program launched by the Directorate General of Food Crops at the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, where SHS serves as its operator.

"Through this activity SHS will distribute a total of 175,000 kg of seed assistance. The seed assistance is intended for farmers with the aim of increasing the productivity of agricultural land. So it is hoped that farmers can increase the average planting period and land harvest period in one year," said Adhi, Tuesday, July 2.

Adhi said that until July 1, 2024, his party had supplied 122,750 kg of rice seeds from the target of 175,000 kg, or 70 percent of the set target had been achieved.

The Varietas of rice seeds distributed is Inpari 32, with 161 recipients of farmer groups with 12,407 members/farm members," he explained.

Adhi added that the production of rice seeds carried out by SHS for this program was also carried out by involving farmer groups. This collaboration will certainly have an impact on improving the welfare of farmers

"In the process of producing rice seeds, we collaborate with farmer groups, so that they can strengthen supply chains and a sustainable agricultural ecosystem," he explained.

Furthermore, Adhi said, the process of procuring seed assistance through SHS was carried out fairly through an e-Catalog from the Government Goods/Services Procurement Policy Institute (LKPP). In the procurement process, SHS competes competitively with other producers registered with the Ministry of Agriculture's Padi Seed E-Catalog, both in terms of price, quality, service and point-to-point distribution capabilities for farmer groups.

"We appreciate the Ministry of Agriculture's positive steps to obtain seed products for quality farmers by implementing a fair and competitive procurement mechanism through the E-Catalog," he said.
