Minister Trenggono: KKP Supports PT Perikanan Indonesia As Partners In Implementing Government Policy

JAKARTA - PT Perikanan Indonesia, member of ID FOOD, is committed to becoming a partner of the government, especially the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) RI to go hand in hand to realize the progress of the marine and fisheries sector.

The Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, said that he would continue to support PT Perikanan Indonesia as a BUMN to become a perpetrator in the implementation of government policies.

One of them is the Measurable Fish Fishing (PIT) program which will soon be promoted. According to Trenggono, Measurable Fishing will have a multiplier effect for companies, fishermen to the surrounding community.

One of the goals of this program is to protect the fishery population. Later, fishing, fishing landings, fish processing, and fish transactions will be carried out in the same location, not all of which are located on the island of Java. With the hope that the economy of the community around fishing will also rise.

"PT Perikanan Indonesia as a BUMN, is expected to be a supporter of KKP policies," Trenggono said in a meeting with ID FOOD Group and PT Perikanan Indonesia, quoted on Friday, June 28.

In addition, he added, PT Perikanan Indonesia can prepare a business focus for aquaculture. This is because fisheries has the potential as a source of protein, of course, to support future government programs in terms of food security.

Trenggono also supports PT Perikanan Indonesia to penetrate a wider market share to foreign countries for export purposes.

President Director of PT Perikanan Indonesia Sigit Muhartono said the company appreciates the support from the KKP and is ready to become a KKP partner in implementing government policies.

"We are committed to participating in supporting the KKP program and taking part in the welfare of fishermen and the sustainability of the fishery ecosystem," said Sigit.

The Measurable Fish Fishing Program is expected to be one of the game changers to boost the company's performance and contribute to increasing capture fisheries production in Indonesia.

Furthermore, PT Perikanan Indonesia has set a fishing target of 350,000 tons in the next 5 years through this program. PT Perikanan Indonesia will maximize fishing in the WPPNRI region through branch offices as the focus in fishing.

PT Perikanan Indonesia will focus on the arrest of 7 main fisheries commodities, including Tongkol, Cakalang, Tuna, Layang, Kembung, Tenggiri, and Cephalopod (gurita, squid and sotong).

Meanwhile, on the export side of fishery products, PT Perikanan Indonesia has reached its market share to 10 countries, namely the United States, Japan, Thailand, Philippines, China, Vietnam, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia and Australia.

The commodities that have been exported include Octopus, Tuna, Cakalang, Kembung Fish, Piring Glass Fish, Bottlefish, Loligo, Kites and Marlin.
