Industrial Manpower Needs Reach 682,000 People, Ministry Of Industry Boosts Vocational Education

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) continues to strive to increase the number of graduates from its assisted vocational education unit so that it can be absorbed in the industry.

One way is to organize the 2024 Industrial Vocal Fair (IVF) in various parts of Indonesia. The agenda brings together the Ministry of Industry's vocational education unit with industrial partners.

In the Sulawesi region, IVF 2024 was held in Makassar, involving five units of vocational education from the Ministry of Industry, namely the Polytechnic of AtI Makassar, SMK-SMAK Makassar, SMK-SMTI Makassar, Metal Morowali Industry Polytechnic and the Bantaeng Manufacturing Industry Community Academy. There are 120 partner industry companies and seven industrial areas invited to meet with vocational education on the agenda.

Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said, IVF 2024 is one way to realize national economic development. Given, strong collaboration is needed between industry players, government and universities.

"To encourage the advancement of sustainable technology, the implementation of joint applied research and the provision of competent human resources for vocational graduates," said Minister of Industry Agus, quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Industry, Saturday, June 22.

Meanwhile, Head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) Masrokhan said that the implementation of education and vocational training by the Ministry of Industry aims to meet and anticipate the needs of industrial workers, which currently exceed 682,000 people.

"We also ensure the suitability (link and match) between the needs of graduate abilities in the industrial business world with the quality of education in all education units of the Ministry of Industry which is not only for now, but also industrial development in the future," he said.

In recent years, Masrokhan said that various industrial partners have opened industrial classes, provided scholarships and carried out school and campus practitioners. The Ministry of Industry's vocational education has also collaborated with PT Mayora, PT Krakatau Posco, PT IMIP, PT Petrokimia Gresik, PT Komatsu, PT FESTO, AXIOO and other partners.

"Also supported by foreign development partners, such as Switzerland, GIZ Germany and AOTS Japan," he said.

The Daily Executive Head of the Industry and Trade Office of South Sulawesi Province, Sence Erna Lamba, said that superior and quality human resource development requires high commitment and synergy across stakeholders.

Therefore, through these activities, the Ministry of Industry is expected to collaborate with all existing industrial partners throughout Sulawesi and also throughout Indonesia.

For your information, the Sulawesi regional IVF has been held on June 20-21, 2024. Activities include Industrial Gathering, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), signing of the MoU, exhibition of the Ministry of Industry and Industry education unit, open house and job fair.

In the job fair agenda, 1,534 positions of 17 industrial partners of the Ministry of Industry were opened not only for school graduates and campuses of the Ministry of Industry, but also schools and campuses located in the Sulawesi Region, especially in South Sulawesi.

Meanwhile, all vocational education units of the Ministry of Industry have implemented the admission of new students and students which are opened through the Joint Industrial Vocational Revenue Line (JARVIS) on 2-31 May 2024. The total number of registrants reached 50,737 people or with a revenue ratio of 1:8.
