Minister Suharso: The Meaning Of Social Assistance Is Given To Families Of Victims Of Good Online Gambling

JAKARTA - Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas) Suharso Monoarfa opened his voice regarding the intention of the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy to provide social assistance (bansos) to families of victims of online gambling.

According to him, what Muhadjir did was very noble behavior.

"He means it must be good, that's in my opinion. Maybe it's just misunderstood," said Suharso as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, June 21.

If they are included in the Beneficiary Group (KPM), he continued, there are certain conditions that must be met in order to obtain social assistance.

These requirements start from how their purchasing power, types of work, wages, working hours, physical household and household conditions, total household levels, education levels, and so on.

"So (the data) will certainly not be shared with the public because it belongs to the government, but at least we can say he is eligible, which is not eligible," said Suharso.

Previously, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture had emphasized that social assistance could be given to the families of judol victims, namely those who experience or suffer from gambling acts.

This means that social assistance is not given to online gamblers, but the family of the gambler.

In government regulations, poor people or poor people with criteria set by the Ministry of Social Affairs can be included as recipients of social assistance through Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS) with the verification process first.

"We still haven't held a meeting, whether it (the provision of social assistance for the families of judol victims) will be an important agenda or not, but automatically, if there are victims who fall into poverty, then the Ministry of Social Affairs will include it, either specifically for the victims or through existing regulations, it can accommodate them. If registered later it will still be verified, it is still in the process, "said Muhadjir.
