Pertek Requirements Removed On 7 Commodities, Zulhas: Textiles Still Exist

JAKARTA - The Minister of Trade (Mendag), Zulkifli Hasan Alias Zulhas ensured that the technical consideration requirements (Pertek) for importing textile and textile products or TPT were still valid.

This statement also responded to complaints from the Indonesian Textile Association (API) which assessed that the Ministry of Trade had made concessions to import regulations. The decision is considered to have a negative impact on the domestic textile industry.

The man who is familiarly called Zulhas said that not only the TPT industry still needs Pertek, but also the steel and steel products industry.

"Baja, textile industry, tires are still, still (needs Pertek). What used to be doesn't exist, it doesn't exist," said Zulhas.

Previously, Executive Director of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Danang Girindrawardana requested that Pertek requirements from the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) be maintained.

Danang explained, Pertek is like a dam, to control the flow of imported goods.

But if the dam is broken down, continued Danang, then the flow of imported goods will be out of control, and then it will destroy the domestic industry.

The technology was removed by the authority of other ministries that do not oversee the industry. We don't like competing ministries eliminating the authority of other ministries," said Danang in his official statement.

As for referring to the Regulation of the Minister of Trade (Permendag) number 8 of 2024 concerning the third amendment to Permendag Number 36 of 2023 concerning Import Policy and Regulation, Pertek requirements are removed for seven commodities, as follows:

1. Electronics

2. Footwear

3. Sod clothes and clothing accessories

4. Bag

5. Katup

6. Traditional medicines and health supplements

7. Cosmetics and household supplies
