Deputy Minister of Trade (Wamendag) Jerry Sambuaga emphasized that any shopping application or marketplace must comply with the provisions of the Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) Number 31 of 2023 concerning the electronic trading system.
This was conveyed by Jerry regarding the concern of the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Teten Masduki who said the Temu application would soon enter Indonesia and the impact was more dangerous than the TikTok Shop.
"Anyway, as long as there is an application or whatever the form, at that time it is not comply (with Permendag 31/2023), it does not follow regulations from the Ministry of Trade in terms of commercial matters, in terms of sales, transactions, and so on, it is not allowed," said Jerry in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday, June 13.
Jerry said the Government had taken firm action against localists who did not comply with the regulations. This has been proven by the closure of the TikTok Shop which does not have an electronic trading permit.
According to Jerry, the Ministry of Trade will also apply the same thing if there are applications that violate the rules.
"We have practiced it, we immediately stop the activities because it is not allowed. But when he already has a permit and he adapts it in a way that is in accordance with the procedure, yes it doesn't matter," he said.
However, Jerry said he had not heard about the import application in Indonesia. He advised, if Temu wants to open an electronic store, he must follow Permendag 31/2023.
