JAKARTA - Deputy for Funding and Investment at the IKN Authority Agung Wicaksono confirmed the plan to build a 778 meter (m) tower in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN). Agung said that the process is currently in the discussion stage.

The plan is that the building will be worked on by one of the BUMN Karya, PT Pembangunan Perumahan (PT PP). Even so, Agung did not want to specify what kind of assignment he was and asked to wait.

"We'll see what the follow-up will be. This SOE assigns PT PP to do it and we'll see what happens later," Agung told reporters, quoted on Tuesday, June 11.

Not much information was shared by Agung. He admitted that he only wanted to answer things related to investment in IKN. "This (discuss) investment only," he added.

Previously, the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono explained the origin of the 778 m tower construction plan at IKN.

Basuki said the development discourse called 'BUMN Tower' appeared when Ridwan Kamil, who is the curator of IKN's construction, glamped with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in Nusantara, East Kalimantan.

"That was when I did glamping twice before (groundbreaking) yesterday, then yesterday (groundbreaking). Well, glamping, that was when Mr. Ridwan Kamil first joined and chatted that night," said Basuki at his office, Friday, June 7.

Even so, Basuki did not specify when the glamping would be done.

The reason is, before visiting IKN in March 2024, Ridwan Kamil visited twice, namely in March 2022 when he was still the Governor of West Java and on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
