JAKARTA - The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) conducted a trial of the Compressed Work Schedule (CWS) program or the implementation of a four-day work system in a week.

The trial process will last for the next three months.

Secretary of the Ministry of SOEs, Rabin Indrajad Hattari, explained that later the CWS program would apply to Echelon II to employees at the BUMN ministry.

"We see now, basically we want this trial for from Echelon II to the executor," said Rabin when met by reporters at the Ministry of SOEs, Jakarta, Monday, June 10.

Rabin said the trial work for four days this week was based on a well-being survey conducted by the Ministry of SOEs in early 2024.

Based on the survey results, continued Rabin, it requires the authorities to provide opportunities for employees to have a feeling of happiness, satisfaction, low stress levels, physical and mental health, and good quality of life.

"On the one hand, we see it is needed here for part of well being," he said.

The Ministry of SOEs, he continued, wanted to see how effective the implementation of CWS was, especially encouraging productivity levels and other aspects of its workers.

"Whether it increases productivity or not, we have to see everything like that, and also from the manager side we also want to see our manager can play a good manager, so that he can manage his team well," he said.

"So, if for example this team may work too hard, they must also be able to ensure that the team also provides an opportunity to work life balance. The point is that," he continued.

Previously, it was reported that the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir, said that BUMN employees could take additional holidays on Friday after working hard.

This step is an effort to encourage mental health aspects for state-owned employees.

Initially, Erick said as much as 70 percent of the younger generation currently had mental health issues. Therefore, he encourages the implementation of a program called a comprehensive working schedule.

With this program, continued Erick, SOE employees can take three days off a week.

However, Erick said, employees who can take a day off are those who work more than 40 hours a week.

"If you have worked for more than 40 hours, you have alternatives at the Ministry of SOEs, I don't know if it's in a state-owned company, you can, if it's more than 40 hours they have an alternative to take a day off on Friday," Erick said at the 2024 BCOMSS Night Awarding event, at Tennis Indoor Senayan, Central Jakarta, Thursday, March 7.
