JAKARTA - The BUMN holding of the Indonesian mining industry, MIND ID, strengthens the added value program for mineral commodities as a downstream strategy for 2024.

President Director of MIND ID Hendi Prio Santoso, in his statement in Jakarta, Thursday, June 6, said that the MIND ID Group has a number of strategic projects in the downstream program that will further strengthen the added value of Indonesian mineral commodities.

MIND ID holding groups consist of PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM), PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), PT Freeport Indonesia, PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminum, and PT Timah Tbk (TINS).

The companies accelerated the planned projects.

One of them is the dragon project in Aneka Tambang (ANTM) which has entered the joint venture stage with the largest EV battery company from China, the Cotemporary Amperex Technology Co Limited (CATL). This project will enter the preparation stage and Feasibility Study (FS) for the construction of the Rotary Kiln-Electric Furnace (RKEF) facility as an advanced stage.

Furthermore, there are also other strategic projects including the PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) project which focuses on efforts to overcome logistical transportation constraints. PTBA is proactive in developing solutions to overcome this problem by developing other transportation capacity.

"MIND ID continues to make maximum efforts to work on various strategic projects downstreaming the mining industry as a contribution to Indonesia's economic development," Hendi said, quoted from Antara.

Hendi continued that all proactive efforts to improve performance are expected to further strengthen MIND ID's business operations and contribute to the country.

"We continue to be consistent in posting positive performances in a sustainable manner, so that we continue to encourage MIND ID's contribution to the country," he said again.

The strategic downstream projects that are being implemented by MIND ID through PT Aneka Tambang Tbk are in the form of a Monetizing Commodity. Among them, the EV Battery project, the Dragon project, and the Titan project which aims to increase the use of mineral commodities in the production of electric vehicle batteries.

Then, the Smelter Grade Alumina project operated by PT Bauxite Alumina Indonesia (PT BAI) or Mempawah Project. The resulting project of the Antam consortium with Inalum focuses on infrastructure development and increasing the added value of mineral commodities in the Mempawah area, West Kalimantan.

Furthermore, PT Bukit Asam Tbk through 'Unlocking Logistics' by increasing the capacity of rail transportation to support coal distribution in South Sumatra.

Then accelerate the construction of the 500 KV PLTU South Sumatra 8 transmission to strengthen electricity infrastructure in this province.

PTBA also participated in coal derivative business development projects, such as sheet anodes, artificial graphites, and MEG to increase the added value of this black gold.

On the other hand, PT Freeport Indonesia through the Downstreaming Expansion is running a PTFI Gresik purification facility construction project that aims to increase mineral refining capacity from the Grassberg mine.

Meanwhile, PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminum with Expand Production Capacity runs an increase in production capacity in Kuala Tanjung.

This project involves strategic partners in the Brownfield project, optimizing supply chains of major raw materials such as alumina in the SGAR Project to ensure smooth supply and production efficiency.

Meanwhile, PT Timah Tbk has improved mining operations patterns to increase efficiency and productivity, development of lead metal downstream products to expand markets and added value, and optimization of tin followed mineral management such as zircons to maximize the utilization of natural resources.
