JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) drilled the Kelok DET-1 Non Conventional Oil and Gas exploration well (MNK), a continuation of successfully taxing the first Gulamo MNK well in the Rokan Block.
"MNK is a monumental and critical project for PHR for the sustainability of developing oil and gas resources for the country and nation," said PHR President Commissioner Virano Gazi Nasutio as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 4.
According to him, the drilling of the MNK Kelok DET-1 exploration well has its own uniqueness because it targets deep MNK reservoirs.
The synergy between the exploration team and the development team allows the same well-hole design to reach non-conventional oil and gas exploration targets and conventional oil and gas development targets at shallower reservoir intervals.
"The development of MNK Kelok DET-1 is a form of PHR's commitment to supporting the achievement of national oil and gas production targets and strengthening national energy resilience. We are optimistic that this effort will produce positive results and make a significant contribution to the national economy," said Virano Gazi Nasution.
Acting VP Asset Development PHR Mochamad Taufan explained that the Kelok DET-1 well is one of the MNK exploration wells in the Rokan Block.
Another well is the Gulamo DET-1 well.
"These two wells are exploration wells within the framework of the MNK Potential Study which has become PHR's commitment to the Indonesian Government in an effort to accelerate the entrepreneurship of non-conventional oil and gas resources located in the Rokan WK," he said.

The temporary results of drilling operations, acquisition of log data, core data, fract tests and laboratory analysis of the two MNK exploration wells show positive indications of MNK's potential resources in the brown shale formation.
"The MNK dredge of DET-1 will last 3 months and be successfully completed reliably. In the future, various tests will be carried out in Kelok and Gulamo to understand the production capabilities of wells. The current target for completion of MNK's tajak is two wells, namely Gulamo and Kelok," he said.
