Development According To Plan, Minister Of Transportation Says IKN Airport Can Operate Starting August 2024

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi revealed that the airport of the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan, is targeted to operate on August 1, 2024.

This assurance was conveyed by Budi Karya Sumasi after checking the progress of the IKN Airport construction, Monday, June 3.

Budi visited several points, such as the runway location and the terminal building.

He said the progress of construction in the two locations and a number of other facilities in general was good and as planned.

"For the runway and terminal building, the changes are significant and clear, when compared to when I last came here at the end of April. This progress is certainly very encouraging," he said in an official statement, Monday, June 3.

Budi also thanked all parties, especially the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) and workers for their hard work so far. With this synergy, we can realize a shared commitment to completing IKN Airport.

"God willing, in July we will test and be ready to operate to commemorate Independence Day on August 17," said the Minister of Transportation.

Therefore, Budi also hopes that the weather in the IKN area will always be sunny in the next few months.

"Hopefully the weather here will always be sunny, so that the airport construction project can run smoothly," he explained.

To note, the progress of physical work at IKN Airport until the 25th week has covered several aspects, including steel work, installation of plumbing, roof, wall, and electrical pipes at VVIP Terminal; column work, installation of plumbing pipes, and steel frames at VIP Terminal.

Then, the top structure work on the 1-4th floor of the ATC Building; pilecap work and installation of Administration and Operational Building plumbings; minipile work and plumbing pipes at the PK-PPK Building; as well as construction work on substation buildings.

Another aspect, structural work on worship buildings, work on the structure of quarantine labs; minipile construction of power houses; cut & fill work, U-ditch excavation, geotextile, aggregate on Main Access Roads (uditch), Embung, and West Perimeter Roads; foundation work stake the Pump Room Building and GWT, as well as STP; as well as work on the foundation of official houses.
