Welcoming National Herbal Medicine Day, Sido Muncul Invites 100 Herbal Medicine Sellers To A Factory In Semarang

JAKARTA - Welcoming National Homecoming Day which is commemorated on May 27, PT Industri Jamu Dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk (Sido Muncul) held an event "Let's Drink Herbal Medicine" by inviting 100 herbal medicine traders to the Sido Muncul Factory in the Ungaran Semarang area, on Thursday, May 30.

Jamu traders from various regions such as Jakarta, Semarang, Solo, and Jogja will be invited to tour the Sido Muncul factory to see the production process of Sido Muncul products that have used modern technology.

After traveling to see the production process, followed by drinking herbal medicine together in the Sido Muncul Agrotourism area together with the Madya Farmers and Food Supervisor of the Semarang POM Center Dra Woro Puji Hastuti, M.Kes., Executive Director of the Central Java Herbal Medicine GP Stefanus Handoyo, and Director of Sido Muncul Irwan Hidayat. In addition, these herbal medicine traders will also be given counseling and education on how to produce good herbal medicine and hygienics from the Pharmacy and Intermediate Food Supervisor of the Semarang POM Center.

"The commemoration of National Herbal Medicine indicates that the culture of drinking herbal medicine has become a healthy lifestyle because people know about the benefits and benefits for health. In addition, it is also a sign that herbal medicine can be global and is a natural cultural heritage of Indonesia," said Director of Sido Muncul Irwan Hidayat.

Irwan hopes that through his products he can invite the younger generation to participate in preserving the tradition of drinking herbal medicine and re-lifting the existence of herbal medicine in Indonesia which is starting to fade.

"We are committed to continuing to develop herbal medicine that is packaged in modern form to make it more practical for consumption, so that it can attract the interest of the younger generation to participate in preserving the herbal medicine tradition, as well as being an alternative for people who do not like the aroma of herbal medicine that looks bitter," added Irwan.

Sido Muncul itself already has a product variant that is packaged modernly in the form of Soft Capsule which was previously produced in the form of powder and liquid, such as the Tolak Angin product which was originally in the form of powder, then packaged in sachet (liquid) form and then re-developed in the form of Soft Capsule. There is also a ready-to-drink variant (Ready to Drink) packaged in bottles such as the Jamu Lifestyle.

Herbal Medicine has been an inseparable part of the lives of Indonesian people for centuries. The tradition of drinking herbal medicine in the archipelago is believed to have existed since the 8th century, as evidenced by reliefs in Borobudur Temple and some ancient manuscripts such as Ramayana Marriage and Chentini Fiber.

Thanks to its good benefits for health, stored meaning, and the efforts of the Indonesian nation in preserving herbal medicine, UNESCO officially included the Home Health Culture (Jamu Wellness Culture) as the Intangible Cultural Heritage (WBTb) at the end of 2023. Herbal Medicine became the 13th Indonesian WBTb which was successfully encrypted into the UNESCO WBTb list.
