The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is collaborating with PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (Kaltim) to create a vocational education program at the AtI Makassar Polytechnic, South Sulawesi, to produce quality industrial human resources (HR), especially in eastern Indonesia.

Head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) of the Ministry of Industry Masrokhan said that this year the program was attended by 30 participants, all of whom came from various eastern regions, namely Bontang, Fakfak, West Papua, Ternate and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

"This program is a tangible manifestation of the Ministry of Industry in preparing reliable and skilled industrial human resources according to current industrial needs," said Head of BPSDMI Masrokhan in his official statement, Monday, June 3.

Masrokhan assessed that in the equivalent diploma one (D1) program, students received material related to industrial development with interconnected composition (link and match) in accordance with the needs of industry in Indonesia.

In addition to theory, students also get industrial world practices at PT Pupuk Kaltim and receive an Industrial Work Practice Certificate (Prakerin) from the company as a form of recognition for having attended education for the specified time.

Meanwhile, the Director of Finance and General Affairs of PT Pupuk Kaltim Qomaruzzaman said the D1 equivalent program provided the opportunity for Indonesia's best sons and daughters, especially from Eastern Indonesia, to obtain theoretical and practical briefing in the industrial world.

"It is a matter of pride for us, because it has become a forum for all colleagues to hone their skills and produce superior human resources in the field of welding techniques," he said.

It is known, the industrial sector is the main driver of national economic development. One of the efforts made by the government is to prepare superior human resources through education and vocational training.

Thus, later it can contribute greatly to the development of the national industry, from the western region to the east of Indonesia.
