JAKARTA - President Director of PT PLN (Persero) Darmawan Prasodjo revealed that he would use thousands of electric poles to be used as Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU).

"This is our innovation, we are changing, utilizing PLN electricity poles, both steel and concrete, we are adding features to the electricity pole as SPKLU," said Darmawan, quoted on Friday, May 31.

Darmawan said that his party had developed a strategy to turn PLN's electric pole into a SPKLU at a lower cost.

Later, he said, PLN will identify certain points with many electric vehicles parked, such as in apartments, and turn the surrounding electric poles into SPKLU.

With a much cheaper cost, Darmawan continued, his party chose a more strategic location.

"Because the cost is much cheaper, we choose a strategic location where there are many EVs parked, or around apartments that have lots of EVs, we change the electricity pole to SPKLU," continued Darmawan.

Previously reported, this innovation was named PLN EYE or SPKLU with a pole mounted charger type by utilizing the electricity pole belonging to PT PLN (Persero).

PT PLN through PLN Enjiniring in this case has released three SPKLU EYE prototypes installed and operational.

The three prototype units are scattered at the West Jakarta KS Tubun PLN Office as many as two units, and one other unit is in Yasporbi Bidakara Elementary School (SD), South Jakarta.

President Director of PLN Enjiniring Chairani Rachmatullah explained that there are two types of SPKLU capacity of PLN EYE, namely 7 kW and 22 kW designed by PLN Enjiniring for pole mounted chargers, both stuck to concrete electric poles and iron power poles.
