Minister Of Industry Agus Invites Cosmetic Industry Actors To Take Advantage Of The Potential Of Natural Materials

Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita invites actors in the cosmetics industry sector to take advantage of the potential wealth of natural materials in Indonesia.

Minister of Industry Agus said that the new industry utilizes 350 types of plants as raw materials for natural cosmetics. In fact, Indonesia has the potential for 30,000 types of nutritious plants that can be processed.

"Indonesia has great potential to become a source of natural cosmetic raw materials with 30,000 types of nutritious plants that we can process," he said in a written statement, Wednesday, May 29.

Agus said that the use of natural cosmetics is in line with the global natural cosmetic sales revenue trend which is expected to grow by 6.85 percent until 2028.

Meanwhile, national income from the natural cosmetics industry is estimated to grow with an average of 5.9 percent until 2028.

According to him, currently the trend of the cosmetic industry is rife using cosmetic ingredients that combine natural ingredients or organic based cosmetics, such as atsiri oil and seaweed.

Therefore, Agus encourages domestic industries to innovate to develop quality cosmetic products and have high economic value as one of the solutions to the availability of local raw materials which are still the homework of the domestic cosmetic business sector.

"The Ministry of Industry will formulate solutions to answer issues related to cosmetic raw materials, one of which is through a collaboration plan between the agro and chemical and pharmaceutical industries to accelerate the provision of local raw materials for the cosmetic industry," he said.

In addition to optimizing the market and using local raw materials, halal cosmetics is also an opportunity that business actors can take advantage of.

"With the large number of Muslim populations and the mandatory halal products in Indonesia, the national cosmetic industry must be able to increase the production and variant of halal cosmetics," he added.
