Pasar Senen Station Escalator Built, KAI Passengers Can Depart From Jatinegara

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) is currently building an escalator on the underpass route at Pasar Senen Station, Central Jakarta. KAI provides options for 17 train customers to also depart from Jatinegara Station.

The construction of an escalator on the underpass route at Pasar Senen Station, Central Jakarta has started since May 6, 2024.

KAI's VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus said that the option was given to avoid passenger density during the installation of the escalator.

"KAI engineered the 17 trains above through an extraordinary stopping scheme (BLB) at Jatinegara Station. So it provides an option for passengers to be able to choose to ride their train from Pasar Senen Station or Jatinegara Station," he said in an official statement, Wednesday, May 15.

Joni said, for KA-KA customers, if they want to continue departing from Pasar Senen Station, they are advised to take sufficient time when they arrive at the station, to avoid the congestion of the impact of the escalator construction.

Meanwhile, customers who want to go up from Jatinegara Station, continued Joni, can carry out the boarding process while still referring to the departure hours listed on the ticket.

Joni said the construction of the installation of escalators on the underpass route of Pasar Senen Station was in order to provide maximum service to customers to access the equipment and arrival of long-distance trains and KRL at Pasar Senen Station.

"KAI is committed to continuing to improve services to customers. It is hoped that more and more people will use trains as a safe, comfortable, and timely mass transportation," said Joni.
