Minister Of Transportation: Construction Of Tanjung Wangi Port Multipurpose Pier Can Reduce Bali's Burden

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said the construction of the Tanjung Wangi Port multipurpose pier, East Java could reduce Bali's burden on the NTB and East Java crossings.

"With the construction of a multipurpose pier, Tanjung Wangi Port can serve ship shipping directly from Banyuwangi to Lombok, Sumba or Sumbawa, so that it will no longer burden the movement of ship traffic in Bali," he said in an official statement, Friday, May 10.

Budi said that currently the development of Tanjung Wangi Port is in the process of submitting the Port Main Plan, which will be continued with the study process.

Furthermore, Budi assessed, Tanjung Wangi Port has great potential, to be developed as a regional port, because it is located adjacent to Ketapang Port.

The multipurpose pier that will be built will be intended for container ships with a capacity of 17,000 tons, and can accommodate 100 vehicles. This capacity is the same as that of Ketapang Port so that it is considered very efficient.

"The Tanjung Wangi Port is a port close to Ketapang Port, so it has the potential to be developed as a regional port between Java and Lombok," he said.

Therefore, Budi hopes that there will be participation or participation from the private sector in the plan to develop Tanjung Wangi Port.

The point is to be able to reduce the burden on the state budget.

The pattern of cooperation that can be carried out is with a management cooperation scheme.

"This development will be collaborated with the private sector, namely with a management cooperation scheme. I also advise to be able to maximize development so that it becomes efficient," said the Minister of Transportation.
