JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission VII DPR RI, Eddy Soeparno opened his voice regarding the plan of the Minister of Investment/BKPM, Bahlil Lahadalia to distribute Mining Business Permits (IUP) to a number of religious community organizations (ormas).

Eddy said that actually, in the provision of IUP, of course, there are provisions such as competency tests for IUP holders. Eddy believes, technically, his party has the belief that those who are given permission are able to manage IUP.

"For us, anyone who is given the opportunity to get a permit must be based on competence and both technical and financial capabilities. So it is not absolutely the domain of religious organizations," said Eddy in the Mining Zone, Wednesday, May 8.

As a representation of Muhammadiyah, which is one of the Religious organizations, Eddy said that his party was happy regarding the plan to give IUP by the government. However, he said that this policy should not only be given to mass organizations but to other parties so that there is no discriminatory impression.

"If we look at the services instilled by various religious organizations and youth institutions, I think the same thing and opportunity must be applied," continued Eddy.

Eddy also emphasized again, regarding the provision of this IUP, the government needs to consider the requirements for fulfilling, having competence, as well as the operational and financial capabilities of the organization.

Eddy also emphasized that his party wanted to prevent the possibility of mass organizations being ridden by other interests.

"Do not let religious organizations then be consumed by interests that we avoid, such as the interests of large corporations, the interests of foreign investors who have a poor track record. This needs to be used as a benchmark, not entering into bigger problems in the future," explained Eddy.

Just so you know, previously Bahlil said that the reason for giving this IUP was because religious organizations were considered to have services in the liberation of the Indonesian people. Therefore, according to Bahlil, mass organizations should be given appreciation for all their contributions to the state. One of them is by permission to work on a mine.

"The logic is like this, you guys have a heart, NU Muhammadiyah, church leaders, Hindu temples. When Indonesia was not yet independent, who freed this nation?," he told reporters met at the Office of the Ministry of Investment, Jakarta, written Tuesday, April 30.
