RI's Economy 5.11 Percent In The First Quarter Of 2024, Jokowi: Grows Optimism

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said the national economic growth of 5.11 percent grew optimism. Moreover, in the midst of the current global recession.

"Yes, this fosters optimism, that other countries, big ones, two-three countries have entered the recession, other countries have also dropped their growth, but we are able to continue to rise at 5.11 percent," Jokowi said quoting Antara.

The President said that economic growth should be grateful. According to him, this growth is supported by a lot of incoming consumption and investment.

"That should be grateful because it is supported a lot by consumption, but it is also supported by the second by investment that continues to enter our country," he explained.

Previously, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Indonesia's economy grew by 5.11 percent on an annual basis (year-on-year/yoy) in the first quarter of 2024.

In the first quarter of 2024, the amount of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on the basis of Valid Prices was recorded at IDR 5,288.3 trillion, while GDP on a Constant Price basis reached IDR 3,112.9 trillion.

Deputy Minister of Finance (Wamenkeu) Suahasil Nazara said that national economic growth, which is at 5.11 percent, is currently a good basis for future economic growth.

"The growth of 5.11 percent is quite high, yes and it is a good basis for Indonesia's growth in 2024," said Suahasil when met at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Monday (6/5).
