Development Of Tanah Abang Station Completed By The End Of The Year, Line And Platform Increase

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) targets the improvement and development of Tanah Abang stations to be completed by the end of 2024.

The development of Tanah Abang Station was carried out with the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta and PT Kereta Api Indonesia.

Director General of Railways Risal Wasal conveyed that the physical implementation of the Tanah Abang station development construction has been running and is targeted for completion by the end of this year.

"We together with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and PT KAI are trying to increase the level of service to passengers at Tanah Abang Station, both in terms of convenience, comfort and accessibility," he said in an official statement, Sunday, May 5.

Risal explained that the improvement and development projects carried out include the construction of new stations, the addition of train lines from four to six lanes, the addition of platforms from two to four, and the arrangement of intermodal integration facilities.

"With the addition of two new routes, the movement at headway time, especially at the Serpong crossing, can reach 3 minutes from the previous 7 minutes," he explained.

In addition, continued Risal, the development of the Tanah Abang station can increase its capacity 3 times, from 100,000 to 300,000 passengers per day.

The scope of work from each party is the Ministry of Transportation to build a new station building and train roads, train operating facilities (rel, signaling), and the People's Crossing Bridge (JPO) on the train line.

Then, the DKI Provincial Government built road widening and integration facilities between modes. Meanwhile, PT KAI builds parking areas as well as e-ticketing arrangements, construction of plazas and station grounds, as well as intermodal and canopy facilities.

"The station will be built with a main building area of 12,000 square meters, and with a 2-story building, which is equipped with commercial buildings and supporting facilities and disability facilities," he said.
