The 3.0 Trillion That Went Viral On Social Media Was Only A Speciment For Peruri Promotion

JAKARTA - Crowded on social media (medsos), Instagram video showing a sheet similar to a rupiah banknote. The 41-second video shows a sheet similar to money with a nominal value of 3.0 and 3.1 purple.

Video uploaded by @david_samuel9 also flooded comments.

Some have questioned whether the sheet is new money.

However, there are also those who ask for an explanation if the nominal is 3.1 in the amount of rupiah.

Responding to this, Peruri's Head of Corporate Secretary Adi Sunardi explained that the sheet in the video was not rupiah currency that had been redenominated, but a house note or generally referred to as specimen money.

Redenomination is a simplification of the value of the rupiah currency without changing the exchange rate.

This redenomination aims to simplify the amount of digits on rupiah denominations without reducing the purchasing power, price or value of the rupiah against the price of goods and/or services.

"Regarding the video of money 1, 1, 3,0 and 3.1 circulating, it is not money that has been redenominated but a housenote or generally referred to as specimen money," he said when contacted by VOI, Sunday, May 5.

Adi explained that the money for this specimen itself was indeed issued to promote Peruri's ability to print money using certain security fees technology.

"This money specimen itself was indeed published by Peruri as marketing tools to promote products (in this case money) which contains all security features that Peruri can afford," he explained.

For your information, based on the Currency Law Number 7 of 2011, it is stated that the money from the Republic of Indonesia is Rupiah with the least characteristics containing:

The image of the state symbol "Garuda Pancasila"1. The phrase "Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia";2. The denomination in numbers and letters as the nominal value;3. Signatures of the Government and Bank Indonesia;4. Fiscal serial number;5. Text "With the grace of Than Yang Maha Esa, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia issues Rupiah as a legal tender with a value.." 6. Referring to the law, house notes or specimen money printed by Peruri cannot be used as legal tender because they do not have the characteristics of rupiah currency.

Until now Peruri has printed three House Note series, the first in 2015 with the theme The Beauty of Indonesia', the second in 2017 with the theme Indonesian & Japanese Heritage and the last in 2020 with the theme The Inspiring Tales.
