JAKARTA - PT Energasindo Heksa Karya (EHK), an Indonesian gas distribution company whose shares are owned by PT Rukun Raharja, Tbk and Tokyo Gas, PT Tripatra Engineering (Tripatra), a subsidiary of PT Indika Energy, Tbk, and PT Pasir Tengah (PASTE), a subsidiary of PT Widodo Makmur Perkasa Tbk, has just signed a memorandum of understanding/Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding the cooperation in the development of Compressed Bio Methane (CBM).
This strategic collaboration aims to develop and utilize the potential of CBM originating from organic waste from a cattle farm owned by PASTE. The location of this feasibility study is in Cianjur, West Java and is expected to produce a CBM of 300mmbtud-600 mmbtud.
methane gas will be taken from organic and curvature waste into biomethane. This step not only reduces greenhouse gas emissions, but also provides cleaner energy alternatives than fossil fuels, especially for customers in West Java. This initiative aims to utilize methane gas produced from organic waste from PASTE farms in West Java.
By utilizing advanced technology, the MOU includes a feasibility study for biogas production and carbon credit formation. This step reflects the commitment of the Parties to promote sustainable energy innovation and active participation in supporting the Indonesian government's initiative towards net zero emissions targets by 2060.
As the largest private gas distribution company, EHK aims to build value chains from biomethana production to supply them to customers by utilizing their experience in selling natural gas through gas pipelines and compressed natural gas (CNG) in Indonesia. President Director of PT Energasindo Heksa Karya, Mr. Agustinus Hendrayana, stated that the feasibility study that his party conducted last year in the same region had shown significant potential for biogas development.
"We hope to start this CBM project in the next six months and infrastructure development will begin in the first quarter of 2025. This is an important step for EHK and our partners in our contribution to clean and sustainable energy," he said, in a written statement, Sunday, April 29.
Tripatra, one of the leading engineering-based solution providers in Indonesia for the energy and downstream sectors, utilizes its expertise in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), and project management, to build environmentally friendly energy processing facilities. This initiative reflects Tripatra's commitment to sustainability, and is part of a broader strategy in facilitating energy transitions in Indonesia towards environmentally friendly energy.
TRIPATRA President Director & CEO, Raymond Naldi Rasfuldi, welcomed the cooperation in developing CBM biogas production.
"This collaboration is in line with TRIPATRA's vision. With the latest technical and technological expertise, we believe that we can optimize the efficiency and productivity of developing this project," he explained.

As one of the companies that has cattle farming in West Java, PASTE will take the lead in efforts to effectively utilize organic waste in the form of livestock waste. Internally, PASTE has utilized organic waste to produce organic fertilizer.
Furthermore, PASTE also opens opportunities to supply and process this organic waste as a low-carbon energy source to the energy industry. This is in line with our commitment to implementing zero waste to reduce greenhouse effects and support the transformation of environmentally friendly industries in Indonesia.
President Director of PT Pasir Tengah, Heri Prasojo, appreciated the opportunity to be involved in this CBM development collaboration.
"It is an honor for us to be able to contribute to this collaboration. With our resources, study and experience in organic waste management, we will provide our best efforts to make this CBM development collaboration a success," he said.
