KPUPR Starts Building Sudiang Football Stadium In Makassar, South Sulawesi November 2024

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) will start building the Sudiang Football Stadium in Makassar, South Sulawesi (Sulsel), in 2024. This is a follow-up to President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) visit in September 2023.

"As a follow-up to the visit of the President of the Republic of Indonesia to South Sulawesi in September 2023, the Ministry of PUPR will build the Sudiang Football Stadium in Makassar with FIFA standards," reads a statement from PUPR quoted from its official Instagram account @kemenpupr, Thursday, April 25.

To support this, the Ministry of PUPR will accelerate the preparation of the Readiness Criteria (RC) document, among others, through the preparation of the Detail Engineering Design (DED) and in collaboration with the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of South Sulawesi and the Makassar City Government (Pemkot) in preparing the Andalalin Amdal.

"Physical work is targeted to start in November 2024 in a multi-year contract (MYC)," he said.

As for the review of the Ministry of PUPR at the location of the stadium construction area, there are still several things that must be considered.

These include the location of land close to Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, drainage around the location and also road access to the stadium must comply with FIFA standards.

"This is because the Functional Eligibility Certificate (SLF) issued by FIFA includes the feasibility of the stadium function and also the road access to the stadium itself," he added.
