JAKARTA - PLN Nusantara Power (PLN NP) as the largest subholding generation in Southeast Asia recorded the success of reducing carbon emissions equivalent to 17 million tons of CO2 through various innovations, including providing carbon exchanges, co-firing programs and new and renewable energy projects themed Green Energy Movement (GEM).

Director of Human Capital Management and Administration of PLN NP Employees Aji in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 23, said that nearly 1 million carbon have been traded on the Indonesian Carbon Exchange (IDXCarbon) by PLN Nusantara Power through PLTGU Muara Karang Block 3.

According to him, PLN NP seeks from various sides to achieve Net Zero Emission in 2060 or sooner, including by going to the carbon exchange.

"Apart from going through the carbon exchange, there are 11 PLTU PLN NP participants who have become carbon trading participants and received a quota of Technical Approval for the Upper Limit Emission of Business Actors (PTBAE-PU) approved by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources with a total that can be traded up to 35 million tons," explained Employee Aji, as reported by Antara.

One of the performances of PLN NP is shown through net energy production derived from co-firing (coal replacement fuel) throughout 2023 as much as 525.62 GWh or equivalent to reducing carbon emissions by 533,291.79 MT (mmetric tons).

Until now, PLN NP has carried out co-firing continuously at 24 steam power plants (PLTU) spread throughout Indonesia.

"In line with the world's enthusiasm in reducing the earth's temperature and as stated in the Paris Agreement, PLN Nusantara Power contributes through the Green Energy Movement," said Aji.

This green Energy Movement is realized not only through cofiring in the PLTU that has been operating, but also the company's seriousness in building environmentally friendly power plants such as PLTS, PLTA, and PLTB.

In 2023, PLN NP has successfully completed one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) of the Cirata Floating Solar Power Plant (PLTS) which is the pride of the Indonesian nation. Through this PLTS, the company is able to avoid 214,000 tons of co2 every year.

"We also always support smart cities in the State Capital (IKN) through the provision of clean electricity from PLTS IKN 50 MW. Currently we have completed the first 10 MW," added Aji.

The construction of the 50 MW PLTS is part of PLN NP's plan to develop new and renewable energy (EBT) at IKN Nusantara.

"Through the IKN PLTS, we will be able to avoid 104.8 tons of co2 emissions every year. In the future, many of our projects will be based on EBT," added Aji.

President Director of PLN Nusantara Power Ruli Firmansyah said that his party was focused on the corporate plan to realize green energy.

PLN NP itself has moved to map Indonesia's needs in the future. Until 2030 we will prepare an additional 6.3 Giga Watt (GW) power plant from an EBT plant spread across the archipelago," explained Ruly.
