JAKARTA PT Bank Sahabat Sampoerna (Bank Sampoerna) posted a positive performance throughout 2023. At the end of 2023, Bank Sampoerna managed to disburse loans amounting to Rp11.4 trillion or an increase of 13.2 percent compared to credit value at the end of 2022.

"This achievement is higher than the increase in banking industry credit as a whole which was recorded at the level of 12.3 percent," said Bank Sampoerna Finance and Business Planning Director Henky Suryaputra, Thursday, April 18.

Henky added that MSMEs remain the main service focus of Bank Sampoerna with around 68 percent of loans being utilized by MSMEs, including 45 percent of the total loans directly given to MSMEs and the rest channeled through other financial institutions.

Henky said, this increase in lending is certainly possible thanks to the maintenance of public trust that places its funds at Bank Sampoerna. In 2023, the total Third Party Funds (DPK) increased 22.3 percent compared to the DPK at the end of the previous year to Rp12.8 trillion. This increase exceeded the increase in the overall banking industry's DPK which in the same period increased 6.3 percent," explained Henky.

On the other hand, the net profit recorded was IDR 62 billion, an increase of more than double the profit in 2022 which was recorded at IDR 27 billion.

In addition to being supported by interest income, this performance was also achieved with an increase in non-interest income and good credit management. Non-interest revenue in 2023 reached IDR 123 billion, a double increase compared to the one obtained in the previous year.

Henky explained that the collaboration between Bank Sampoerna and fintech companies, multifinance, cooperatives, and various other parties not only allows for higher lending for MSMEs, but also has a good financial impact. With the implementation of Bank as a Service (BaaS), Bank Sampoerna provides various services for partners and earns non-interest income, such as virtual account procurement services, transaction fees, and so on.

Throughout 2023 the number of digital transactions reached 25 million with a volume of Rp. 102 trillion. Thus, overall, Bank Sampoerna posted a more than double increase in non-interest income compared to the one recorded in the previous year. This has a significant impact on achieving net profit," he said.

Increasing performance can also be seen from the ratio of equity or Return On Equity (ROE) and the ratio of asset returns or Return On Assets (ROA).

In 2023 ROE touched 2.00 percent, up 1.03 percent from 0.97 percent. Meanwhile, ROA reached 0.53 percent, an increase of 0.24 percent from 0.29 percent.

Bank Sampoerna CEO Ali Rukmijah emphasized that the slick performance of Bank Sampoerna was achieved with financial fundamental support and prudent financial practice (prudent). The capital adequacy Ratio (CAR) at the end of 2023 reached 30.2 percent, or about 3 times the minimum ratio set based on existing regulations.

The loan ratio disbursed to the DPK or Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) is also quite free at the 89.1 percent level with maintained loan quality as reflected in the ratio of non-performing loans (NPL) at 3.3 percent.

"The strong financial structure and fundamentals of Bank Sampoerna allow us to develop further services in 2024," he stressed.
