JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) visited Muara Bungo Market in Bungo Regency, Jambi Province, on Thursday, April 4. During the visit he saw inadequate market infrastructure.
Many traders choose to sell outside the market. As a result, he also asked the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono to rehabilitate the market.
"This is the most important thing. Muara Bungo Market must be repaired so that traders are inside. Why don't they want to go inside? Because it is dark, so it really needs arrangement," Jokowi said as quoted from the official website of the Presidential Secretariat, Friday, April 5.
Jokowi hopes that this arrangement will bring real benefits to traders and the surrounding community.
"I have ordered the Minister of Public Works (Basuki Hadimuljono), so that traders are comfortable, the market is crowded, parking lots are also available and we hope that modern traditional markets will remain crowded," he said.
On that occasion, Jokowi also highlighted a number of leading potentials in Jambi. According to him, the province has a variety of promising sectors, especially in plantations and people's agriculture.
"I think there are a lot of them, yes, (potential) especially people's plantations, people's agriculture. I also saw from above, it seems that the people's mines are also good," said Jokowi.
Even so, the head of state said that this potential must be managed properly. He also appreciated the friendliness of the people in Jambi.

Meanwhile, regarding the price stability of a number of basic necessities in the market, Jokowi expressed his satisfaction with the current conditions. According to him, the price of a number of basic commodities at Muara Bungo Market is still quite good.
"The price stability is the same, very good everything," he added.
