JAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) encourages the acceleration of halal certification in tourism business products and services, especially in tourist villages that have joined the tourism village network (Jadesta).

One of the efforts made is to issue a Circular (SE) on Halal Certification of Food and Beverage Products for Tourism and Creative Economy Business (Parekraf) on March 25, 2024.

"So, through this circular, it is hoped that it can increase literacy insights regarding Muslim-friendly tourism and also increase awareness of halal certification," said Menparekraf Sandiaga in his official statement, quoted Friday, April 5.

Sandiaga said, by conducting halal certification on its business products and services, tourism village managers can improve the quality of services to provide extra comfort for visiting Muslim tourists.

"I want this tourism village network to improve the quality of services in tourist villages as well as halal and toyib (good) products. So, visiting tourist villages can be halal toyiban and mubarokah. We hope this will make it comfortable, safe and fun when tourists visit tourist villages," he said.

In order to create a Muslim-friendly tourist village, Sandiaga also encourages all parties to collaborate and participate, both from academics, government agencies, tourism and community and media business actors.

"One of them is through collaboration with the Halal Product Guarantee Administration Agency (BPJPH) to be able to achieve the halal certification target of products and services in 3,000 Tourism Villages," he said.

The obligation to carry out halal certification is in accordance with Government Regulation (PP) Number 39 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of the Halal Product Guarantee Sector, where the first implementation period of the obligation for halal certificates will end on October 17, 2024.
