The Ministry Of Transportation Estimates That 4,000 Electric Cars Are Used During The 2024 Eid Homecoming

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation projects that as many as four thousand electric-based passenger cars will be used during the 2024 Eid homecoming period.

Head of the Motor Vehicle Type Test Sub-Directorate of the Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Yusuf Nugroho in Jakarta, Thursday, April 4, said that this figure is an 18 percent projection of the total electric car in the country, which amounts to around 23,238 units.

In addition, according to him, the electric car used for homecoming is not only intended for out-of-town travel, but also for city mobility for hospitality.

"The pole of battery-based electric passenger cars is 23,238 units with a projection of approximately 18 percent, around 4,000 vehicles have the potential to run homecoming this year," he said, as reported by Antara.

Furthermore, he said the government had provided Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) prepared in a number of locations to support the mobility of electric vehicle users during this homecoming period.

Yusuf said that his party had also prepared standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to procedures for transporting electric vehicles (EVs) in general when crossings by ships.

According to him, this is to reduce the concerns of people who use electric vehicles for homecoming.

"In principle, electric motorized vehicles are safe for use because testing and testing of security standards globally and regulated in Indonesia have been carried out. So that people do not need to worry about the use of EVs, because they are already prove, tested, and safe to use," he said.

Meanwhile, cumulatively, the Ministry of Transportation predicts that as many as 35.42 million people will go home using cars, both conventional and electric.

Previously, the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment said that 175 fast charging Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) had been built along the Trans Sumatra-Java toll road.

Overall, the number of SPKLU in Indonesia has reached 1,299 units and is spread over 879 location points. For details of the SPKLU distribution location, namely 152 units in Sumatra, 899 units in Java, 55 units in Kalimantan, 87 units in Bali, 64 units in Sulawesi, 8 units in Maluku, 27 units in Nusa Tenggara, and 7 units in Papua.
