Pelindo Departs 3,975 Free Homecomers To 13 Destination Cities

PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo on Thursday dispatched 3,975 travelers to 13 destination cities in Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi through the "Free Homecoming with Pelindo Group" program for the Lebaran 2024 period.

The travelers departed from four departure cities, namely Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, and Makassar by bus.

"Free homecoming with Pelindo Group has become our annual program. With this program, we help facilitate residents who live around the company's operating area so that they can stay in their hometowns for days," said Pelindo President Director Arif Suhartono in his statement, in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday 4 April.

This was conveyed during the release of the "Free Homecoming with Pelindo Group" departure at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, Thursday.

Arif explained that the "Free Homecoming with Pelindo Group" program is part of the company's social and environmental responsibility program (TJSL) to help people who want to celebrate Eid al-Fitr in their hometowns, but are constrained by relatively high costs.

In addition, he said, the program is also in line with the direction of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN).

Meanwhile, specifically for Thursday's departure from Jakarta, the travelers were dispatched using 32 buses from the departure point at the former Jakarta International Cointainer Terminal (JICT) in the Tanjung Priok Port area.

In addition to facilitating departures, Pelindo Group also facilitated the return of travelers from the destination city to return to the hometown of departure, including Jakarta.

Based on Pelindo's report, the thousands of travelers have gathered since 06.00 WIB in the Tanjung Priok Port area. The departure of the travelers was released by the President Director of Pelindo Arif Suhartono.

Pelindo Corporate Secretariat Group Head Ardhy Wahyu Basuki explained that in 2024, 8,150 seats were prepared for the community in the "Free Homecoming with Pelindo Group" program. Of these, 7,950 seats are intended for travelers who use bus modes of transportation.

"The rest, as many as 200 seats are quotas for travelers who use ship transportation modes. Previously, on Sunday, March 31, we had dispatched around 100 residents to return to their hometowns for free by ship, with the city to Ambon and Sorong," said Ardhy.

Pelindo in 2024 will again participate in the "Homecoming Program with the Ministry of SOEs". The plan is that thousands of travelers will be dispatched simultaneously by using buses from the National Monument (Monas) area, Jakarta to various destination cities in Java and Sumatra on Friday, April 5.
