Minister Of Transportation Budi Karya Asks Staff In Regions To Check The Feasibility Of Tourism Buses Ahead Of Eid 2024

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi asked all his staff in the region to coordinate with the police to conduct an inspection of the feasibility of operations (ramp charm) for every tourism bus ahead of the Lebaran homecoming.

"We do ramp checks, at sea, air, trains, on buses, and in particular we ask friends in the regions through the police chief to ramp check buses or tourism buses," Budi said at the Commission V Working Meeting of the DPR RI together with the Minister of Transportation, Minister of PUPR, Head of Traffic Police, Head of BMKG, and Head of Basarnas on Readiness for Eid Al-Fitr 2024 in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, April 3.

Budi asked each region through the police chief to enforce the law against tourist buses which are usually in poor condition.

"Most of the buses are not fit," he added.

Minister of Transportation Budi emphasized that ensuring the feasibility of tourism bus operations is an effort to improve the safety of people who use this mode of transportation.

According to Budi, checking the physical condition of vehicles and compliance with highway safety standards will reduce the risk of accidents and ensure that tourism buses operate with appropriate standards.

The Ministry of Transportation is trying to ensure the readiness of transportation facilities and infrastructure to support the flow of Eid Al-Fitr 2024 by conducting inspections of operational feasibility or vehicle safety inspections (ramp checks).

"Collaboration is an important thing, even the President (Joko Widodo) has repeatedly ordered us as his assistants to serve the community well," he said.

Budi added that preparations for Eid 2024 transportation had been carried out carefully through cross-sectoral coordination. With infrastructure that has been built and cooperation between ministries/agencies, all transportation operators, as well as various related parties, it is hoped that the surviving, safe, and comfortable Eid transportation can be achieved.

"We are also intensely trying to coordinate this so that we can get a good condition. We will succeed if we make maximum efforts," said Budi.

On that occasion, Minister of Transportation Budi also highlighted the existence of a hot air balloon festival in the Central Java region every Eid celebration.

He has also asked the police chief and the military district commander (anddim) to consolidate so that the air balloon festival does not interfere with flights.

"The congestion area is also a point that we pay attention to. We ask for the support of Commission V of the DPR RI, the media, the Ministry of PUPR, Korlantas Polri, BMKG, Basarnas and related stakeholders, hopefully what we are doing will be successful and according to our homecoming tagline this year," said Budi.
