Minister Of Agriculture Amran To Bulog: Please Buy Farmer's Grain, Don't Just Rice

JAKARTA - Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Amran Sulaiman asked Perum Bulog to buy grain from farmers' crops, so that Bulog does not only absorb rice.

"Please Bulog if possible, Bulog buys unhulled rice from farmers, because farmers only sell grain. You can buy rice, but also buy unhulled rice from farmers," he said during an assembly on standby to secure supplies and food prices ahead of Eid Al-Fitr 2024, quoted from YouTube. Furthermore, Arman explained, if the government, in this case Perum Bulog, participates in absorbing farmers' unhulled rice, then the price of unhulled rice at the farmer level will not fall.

"So that the government also meets with farmers because we get information that they have started shouting because the price of unhulled rice has dropped," he said.

Previously, the Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Arief Prasetyo Adi said he would prepare a meeting to discuss the Government Purchase Price (HPP) of unhulled rice. This inauguration will also be attended by the Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman.

"Mr. Minister of Agriculture called earlier, we are preparing to calculate the HPP (gabah) together," he said during a standby meeting to secure food supplies and prices ahead of Eid Al-Fitr 2024, quoted from YouTube Badanas, Monday, April 1.

Arief targets the discussion of this unhulled HPP to be completed within one week. He said the Minister of Trade who handles it at the downstream level will also be involved, including unions to farmer associations.

"If we can finish it this week, of course it involves associations, food stakeholders, farmers' unions, farmers' friends and the Minister of Trade (Zulkifli Hasan)," he said.
