JAKARTA - PT PLN Indonesia Power, through its subsidiary PT Artha Daya Coalindo (ADC), is building a biomass ecosystem as an effort to maintain the sustainability of the steam power plant (PLTU) mixing program while accelerating the net zero emission (NZE) target by 2060.

President Director of PLN Indonesia Power Edwin Nugraha Putra in his statement in Jakarta, Monday, April 1, said that the development of the biomass ecosystem was carried out, one of which was through the Energy Plant Forest program as an alternative provider of environmentally friendly fuel in a number of places.

This time, according to him, the use of biomass was carried out at PLTU Adipala, Cilacap Regency, Central Java.

"The collaboration in the development of the biomass ecosystem in Cilacap is expected to meet the target of utilizing the Adipala PLTU biomass of up to 42,000 tons per year which has an impact on reducing emissions by 48,531.47 tons of CO2," said Edwin, quoted from Antara.

Edwin explained that this was done by cooperating with several village-owned enterprises/BUMdes in Cilacap Regency.

The pilot project for the energy plant forest of the type of gamal tree and Kamudara is located in three sub-districts of Cilacap Regency, namely Kawunganten, Jeruklegi, and Kesugihan with a target land of up to 100 hectares.

"PLN Indonesia Power continues to collaborate, one of which is through the development of technology to reduce emissions in Indonesia," he also said.

Edwin also said that the development of the biomass ecosystem is expected to be able to boost the community's economy in its role as a biomass provider.

"With this collaboration, the community has also raised its economic level by contributing to the success of the renewable energy mix which is one of the government's strategic programs," he said again.

Edwin added that PLN Indonesia Power has long carried out various technological developments to reduce CO2 emissions such as the development of biomass cofiring.

"Cofiring, for example, we have targets in several locations and so far it has been running in a number of locations and has succeeded in reducing the emissions of millions of tons of CO2 equivalents," he said.

In addition, PLN Indonesia Power has also succeeded in efficiency in a number of lines to reduce emissions by implementing cofiring is the best choice to generate electrical energy.

"This is an effort to utilize renewable energy resources or EBT together with conventional fuels to increase efficiency and reduce environmental impacts," he said.
