JAKARTA - The Bank Indonesia Representative Office (KPw BI) of East Java Province has strengthened digitalization growth by urging the public to use the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) when exchanging new money to meet their needs at the moment of Eid 2024.

Head of KPw BI East Java Erwin Gunawan Hutapea said that apart from making it easier to bring money when exchanging, this also increases risk mitigation.

"This can also increase risk mitigation, if people who exchange bring money with a package of Rp. 4,000,000, it is better to store it in a swallow or in a bank account and can exchange it using QRIS, it is safer," he said, during the 2024 SERAMBI integrated exchange service activity at a mall in Surabaya, quoted from Antara, Saturday, March 30.

In the exchange, his party provided 3,000 packages for people who had registered through the PINTAR application that had been provided by Bank Indonesia.

"To the public to exchange on official services, do not exchange in unofficial services because there are the first two risks, there is a possibility that we will get money whose authenticity is doubtful," he said.

According to him, because the public does not know whether there is original money tucked in in the middle.

"And second, most importantly, the amount that wants to be exchanged is not the same because there is a fee, while here it is free and guaranteed its authenticity," he said.

Therefore, he hopes that the service that cooperates with 14 banks in East Java can provide economic growth.

"This is a form of Bank Indonesia's commitment and support and all banks to continue to provide growth to the economy of the people of East Java," he said.

Meanwhile, one of the residents from Demak, Surabaya, named Karina Ayu Saraswati, admitted that she was more comfortable using QRIS because it was easier and less complicated.

"I'm a young person, bro, usually cashless use QRIS in everyday life, I don't want to be complicated," he said.

Apart from Karina, there is also Venina Rahayu from Grati, Pasuruan, who has come all the way to Surabaya to immediately exchange new money for Eid needs.

"I exchanged with QRIS, it's more practical, because I just have to scan it, so it's easy," he said.

He was aware of the information about the exchange of money through Bank Indonesia's official social media two weeks ago. "I exchanged Rp. 3,000,000, yesterday war made exchanges, quickly, about five minutes finally I got a booking code," said the woman who was born in 1999.
