Lion Air Boss Rusdi Kirana Believes Indonesian Aviation Industry Has A Promising Future

JAKARTA - Lion Air founder Rusdi Kirana said the future of the aviation industry in Indonesia promises to meet the needs of public air transportation.

He said this was based on Indonesia's geographical condition in the form of an archipelago so that the community's need for air transportation was quite high.

"The future of the aviation industry in Indonesia is promising, because we are an archipelagic country. The current problem is how we can commit to passengers," said Rusdi in Batam, Riau Islands, quoted from Antara, Friday, March 22.

In addition, according to him, the government has provided special economic zones (SEZs) and free spare parts imports, it is hoped that the Indonesian aviation industry can compete with other countries.

Through Batam Aero Technic (BAT), Rusdi said his party would add aircraft hangars and increase cooperation with engine repair vendors.

"Next week's engine comes from outside, we want to change modules. So the engine is removed and change modules here," he said.

The realization of investment in the Lion Group BAT has reached IDR 797 billion as of December 2023.

Lion Group President Director, Capt. Daniel Putut Kuncoro Adi explained that the target investment value on 30 hectares of land is IDR 1.550 trillion, and it is planned to expand land up to 50 hectares with an investment value of IDR 7 trillion by 2030.

He added that until now in the BAT hangar, there have been 1,500 workers, all of whom are from Indonesia.

"A total of 26 aircraft can be treated directly in 6 Lion Group BAT hangars," said Daniel.
