JAKARTA - PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP), state-owned construction and investment, is waiting for the final decision of the Ministry of SOEs regarding the plan to merge seven BUMN Karya which are engaged in the infrastructure sector into only three companies.

"The intention of merging BUMN Karya is of course to be better and we are in a position to wait for the final decision," said Corporate Secretary of PT PP (Persero) Bakhtiyar Efendi to the media, quoted from Antara, Thursday, March 21.

According to him, the plan to merge has actually become an old issue and has been studied by each BUMN Karya so that what has been conveyed by SOE Minister Erick Thohir is not too surprising anymore.

"PP was previously also invited to participate in reviewing the plan to merge BUMN Karya and what was conveyed by the Minister of SOEs was exactly what had been studied so far," he said.

Currently, he said, the company is still waiting for the final results of the study on the merger of BUMN Karya which will be submitted by the Minister of SOEs and of course it will be followed.

Previously, State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Minister Erick Thohir said he would merge seven BUMN Karya or those engaged in infrastructure into three companies.

"We are in the process of combining seven works into three work companies," said Erick.

The seven work companies are PT Hutama Karya (Persero), PT Waskita (Persero), PT PP (Persero), PT Wijaya Karya (Persero), PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero), PT Adhi Karya (Persero) and PT Nindya Karya (Persero).

Erick said that the merger of these seven companies is a form of improving the governance of BUMN Karya. Currently, the Ministry of SOEs has started to classify and groupify so that they can focus on their respective duties.

Furthermore, Erick explained that Brantas Abipraya, Adhi Karya and Nindya Karya will join forces whose focus is on water development projects, rails and other contexts.

Hutama Karya and Waskita will work on toll road, non-toll road, institutional building and reverse comeback projects.

"Wika (Wijaya Karya) and PP (PT PP) did not enter the road toll road, but he focused on seaports and airports. But still go to the residential because they entered the assets that were left behind previously," said Erick.

Erick said PP would become a holding company or holding company for the merger with Wijaya Karya.

According to Erick, the Ministry of SOEs will continue to encourage consolidation so that the country's corporations have specialties and expertise. This process will also make the performance of SOEs more efficient.
