JAKARTA - ID Food President Director Frans Marganda Tambunan revealed that the three commodities assigned for imports from the government, namely, frozen beef or Brazilian frozen beef, raw crystal sugar, and garlic, will only enter after Eid al-Fitr 2024.
Furthermore, Frans said that there are still administrative requirements that need to be resolved related to the importation, so that the arrival cannot be realized before Lebaran 2024.
"For raw crystal sugar and garlic, as well as Brazilian beef when we get the assignment, there are indeed several administrative requirements, such as the Ministry of Agriculture's recommendation and then the import approval from the Ministry of Trade, this which is currently being processed will soon come out," he said in a discussion at the Ministry of SOEs, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 20.
Even so, Frans predicts that the realization of the import of raw crystal sugar and garlic, as well as Brazilian beef, can be done after Eid al-Fitr 2024.
"So this is indeed why we cannot catch up with Eid," he said.
In his presentation, Frans said ID Food received an import assignment of 92,000 tons of raw crystal sugar throughout 2024, his arrival target began in April 2024.
Furthermore, ID Food also received an import assignment of 20,000 tons of frozen beef from Brazil. Frans estimates the arrival of the commodity will be in April or May 2024. As well as 20,000 tons of garlic for 2024.
That way, Frans said only living cows from Australia could be realized before Lebaran 2024. From the assignment of 20,000, 2,350 live cows will enter Indonesia in the near future.

To meet the needs of fresh meat, Frans admitted that he asked the Ministry of Agriculture to be given discretion so that the imported cows that arrived were partially cut. The reason is, the rule that applies is that the cow must be overweight for three months first.
"The Ministry of Agriculture has agreed that we can slaughter 500 cows to help provide fresh meat later. Of the 2,350 chickens, approximately 25 percent are worth cutting," he said.
Frans said that the 500 live cows that will be cut will produce 162 tons of meat. He also hopes to contribute to the needs of Eid.
"Indeed, we see that there are not many that can be slaughtered, only 500. How many kilograms of meat? I calculated approximately 162 tons," he explained.
