Kemenkop Has Provided 821 Thousand New Entrepreneurs In 2023

JAKARTA - Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Teten Masduki reported the performance of his ministry during 2023, including creating 821,556 new entrepreneurs.

The report was submitted by Teten while attending a working meeting with Commission VI of the DPR RI in Jakarta, Tuesday, March 19.

Teten said as many as 821,556 new entrepreneurs were created through 320 activities carried out by 27 ministries/agencies. By 2024, it is targeted that 1 million new entrepreneurs will be created.

On this occasion, Teten also reported the realization of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs' budget in 2023.

He explained that the Kemenkop UKM had realized 97.80 percent or Rp1.36 trillion of their total budget in 2023 which amounted to Rp1.39 trillion.

"What is allocated is for the implementation of the ministry's priority programs in each work unit," he said.

Teten also reported that in 2024, his ministry succeeded in developing 400 units of modern cooperatives, consisting of 220 food cooperatives and 180 non-food cooperatives.

This year, he targets 100 modern cooperatives to be developed so that accumulatively in 2024 there will be 500 modern cooperatives.

Furthermore, packaged facility services to increase added value, quality, and competitiveness for UMK products are now available in 13 locations. This number will be added this year.

"Currently, we are proposing 10 more locations so that the total plan to develop packaged facility services is 20 locations," he said.

In an effort to eradicate extreme poverty, Teten said that various activity interventions have been carried out in 48 priority locations through facilitation of access to financing, expansion of market access, as well as assistance and training for cooperatives and micro-enterprises.

Kemenkop UKM, he continued, is still collecting data on the number of MSMEs in Indonesia. He said that until 2023 there were 13.4 million MSME data collected, complete with names and addresses.

Based on data from the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, the national entrepreneurship ratio in 2023 will reach 3.04 percent of the target of 3.21 percent. This target will increase in 2024 to 3.23 percent.

Meanwhile, entrepreneurial growth in 2023 is on target, which is 2.74 percent. Entrepreneur growth is targeted to increase to 2.90 by 2024.
