SKK Migas Affirms Lifting Target Of 1 Million Barrels Of Oil Per Day In 2023 Will Not Change

JAKARTA - The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) confirmed that the target of lifting 1 million barrels of oil per day (BOPD) in 2030 has not changed, although Commission VII of the DPR RI has asked to review.

"The point is, if for us is yes, the target (lifting) of 1 million barrels of oil per day (BOPD) will not change. We have to achieve that," said Head of the SKK Migas Program and Communication Division Hudi D. Suryodipuro in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, March 19.

Hudi said, even though with 1 million BOPDs, Indonesia is still importing for its crude oil needs. Therefore, according to him, the achievement of the target of 1 million BOPD must still be carried out.

Regarding the problem of wanting to revise the target, Hudi emphasized that SKK Migas always evaluates it on an annual basis.

"Even we are doing it at this time, what we are doing is evaluating how the progress of our IOG (Indonesia Oil and Gas) 4.0, our long term plan," he said.

The statement was related to criticism from Member of Commission VII DPR RI Maman Abdurrahman to SKK Migas in a Hearing Meeting (RDP) which took place in Senayan on Wednesday (13/3).

Maman asked SKK Migas to review the target of 1 million barrels of oil per day by 2030. When delivering this criticism, Maman assessed that the government was too optimistic, especially with the achievement of oil lifting in 2023 which was below the target.

The criticism has also drawn a response from the Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Tutuka Ariadji.

Tutuka asked Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) to develop potential oil sources in the fire field.

The volume can be 800 million 1 billion (BOPD). The resources can be managed," said Tutuka at the Office of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jakarta, Thursday, March 14.

The request aims to boost national oil production to realize the target of 1 million barrels of oil per day (BOPD) by 2030.
