Indonesia's Import Value in February 2024 Reaches 18.44 Billion US Dollars

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that Indonesia's import value in February 2024 reached 18.44 billion US dollars, down 0.29 percent compared to January 2024 or up 15.84 percent compared to February 2023.

Acting Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said that oil and gas imports in February 2024 amounted to 2.98 billion US dollars, an increase of 10.42 percent compared to January 2024 or an increase of 23.82 percent compared to February 2023.

Furthermore, non-oil and gas imports in February 2024 were worth 15.46 billion US dollars, down 2.12 percent compared to January 2024 or up 14.42 percent compared to February 2023.

"Of the ten main categories of non-oil and gas goods in February 2024, machines/mechanical equipment and their parts experienced the largest decrease of 112.0 million US dollars or 3.91 percent compared to January 2024. Meanwhile, the largest increase was vehicles and their parts, 87.5 million US dollars or 13 .36 percent," in a press conference at BPS Head Office, Friday 15 March 2024.

Amalia said the three largest suppliers of non-oil and gas imported goods during January and February 2024 were China 11.87 billion US dollars (37.98 percent), Japan 2.24 billion US dollars (7.17 percent), and Thailand 1.87 billion dollars US (5.98 percent).

Non-oil and gas imports from ASEAN were 5.54 billion US dollars (17.73 percent) and the European Union 1.92 billion US dollars (6.15 percent).

Based on the category of use of goods, the value of imports in January and February 2024 compared to the same period the previous year saw an increase in the consumer goods category of 672.9 million US dollars (22.73 percent), raw/auxiliary materials decreased by 1,087.2 million US dollars (4,23 percent), and capital goods 812.5 million US dollars (14.20 percent).
