Ministry Of Agriculture Calls Potential Rejuvenation Of People's Palm Oil Capai 1 Million HA

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) stated that the potential for oil palm rejuvenation (PSR) that can be optimized reaches 1 million hectares. Especially for planting gogo rice.

"The identification results of the Directorate General of Plantation are available with the potential for PSR land which can be optimized covering an area of 1 million hectares," Andi said quoting Antara.

However, he conveyed that after the final verification, land that can be picked up with gogo rice (dry land padi) covering an area of 540 thousand hectares was obtained. This step is an implementation of the Palm Oil Tumpang Sari Plant Food Program or commonly called Kesatria

"This chivalrity program is expected to produce an additional 1 million tons of harvested dry unhulled rice or GKP," Andi said in an official statement in Jakarta.

He explained that the PSR Program since 2017 until now has been implemented in 21 provinces and 148 regencies/cities and has issued technical recommendations for rejuvenation covering an area of 327,065 hectares.

"With the realization of planting 218,272 hectares spread across 21 provinces of oil palm plantation centers and in 2024 the PSR program is targeted at 120,000 hectares with a target of 80,000 through official channels and 40,000 partnership routes," said Andi.

Andi explained that the Padi Gogo Planting Program on oil palm plantations and coconut oil over food crops is a collaboration activity of the Directorate General of Plantation together with the Directorate General of Food Crops with plantation stakeholders, both people's plantations and large state and private plantations.

This program, continued Andi, is an effort to optimize oil palm and coconut plantations and increase income for plantations during the oil palm and coconut rejuvenation period.

He said that in its implementation, the Directorate General of Plantation collaborated with the Directorate General of Food Crops, provincial governments, districts/cities, associations and all stakeholders of tourism and coconut.

"To sit together to coordinate and play an active role in finding solutions to every challenge in the success of the Ministry of Agriculture's program, namely rejuvenation of oil palm in the people's acceleration with food crop programs, in order to realize increased productivity and quality of palm oil and food security," said Andi.
