JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) recorded the growth of Roof Solar Power Plant (PLTS) users in 2023 almost 2 times from the previous year. As of January 2024, the realization of on-grid Roof PLTS installations to PLN systems reached 149 Megawatt peak (MWp).
However, this number is still far from the target set by the government, namely 3.6 gigawatts (GW) in 2025.
PLN's Director of Retail and Commerce, Edi Srimulyanti, said that although it was small, this number had doubled from 2022, which was recorded at only 80 MWp, while as of December 2023 it was recorded at 141 MWp.
"This has increased significantly even though it is still quite small with the potential in our country which is rich in solar natural resources," said Edi in his presentation on the Socialization of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources 2/2024, Tuesday, March 5.

Edi explained, of the total capacity, the largest installation capacity on the islands of Java Madura and Bali (Jamali) was 125 MWp, followed by Sumatra Island with 8.1 islands of Kalimantan 3.4 MWp, Sulawesi Island 2.1 MWp, West Nusa Tenggara 0.7 MWp, Maluku 0.6 MWp, East Nusa Tenggara 0.4 MWp and Papua 0.3 MWp.
"Regarding the power of the Roof PLTS, it is dominated by the industry, if the number of customers is dominated by households, but resources are dominated by the industry," concluded Edi.
