PT Hutama Karya (Persero) has completed a series of Functional Feasibility Tests (ULF) on one of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) sections, namely the Indrapura-Kisaran II Toll Road Section Limapuluh-Kisaran with a length of 32.15 kilometers (km) on Thursday, February 29 to Friday March 1, 2024.

This evaluation was carried out by involving a number of agencies consisting of elements from the Ministry of PUPR, the Ministry of Transportation and the Traffic Corps of the Police.

This activity began with a field review by Sub-Team 1 by examining aspects of traffic safety and management, Sub-Team 2 by examining the completeness of road facilities, bridges and complementary buildings as well as Sub-Team 3 which evaluates from the operation and administration side.

Executive Vice President (EVP) of the Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya, Tjahjo Purnomo said, the Indrapura-Kisaran Toll Road consists of two (2) sections with a total length of 47.75 km.

The progress of the physical construction of the Indrapura-Kisaran Toll Road Section II Limapuluh- Kisaran has been completed.

Therefore, to support the acceleration of operation, this toll road is checked before it is passed by road users.

"The high enthusiasm of the community during the inauguration of the Indrapura-Kisaran Toll Road Section Indrapura-Limapuluh (15.6 km) by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, further supports the company's enthusiasm to immediately operate the two sections of the Indrapura-Kisaran Toll Road," said Tjahjo, quoted from the official website of Hutama Karya, Monday, March 4.

"Hopefully we can receive the results of this examination to fully support community mobility in the coming month of Ramadan," he continued.

He said checking supporting facilities includes road main, intersection, toll road intersection with national roads, toll gates to rest & service places (TIP).

The structural facilities that are also checked include underpass bridge, overpass, box culvert. In terms of operational preparation, Hutama Karya also provides ambulances, 10 tons of cranes, towing cranes, rescue and patrol vehicles to ensure the safety of toll road drivers.

Tjahjo believes, if it is fully connected, this toll road will cut the community's travel time by half, especially during the 2024 Lebaran homecoming.

Initially, from Medan to Kisaran it took 5 hours, with the length of the toll road network in North Sumatra, the travel time for motorists was only 2 hours and 30 minutes.

"In addition to strengthening community connectivity, logistics distribution will be easier and the economy will be more stretched," he said.
