Checking Rice Stock In Karawang, Bulog Boss Claims Supply Is Close To Normal

JAKARTA - President Director of Perum Bulog Bayu Krisnamurthi claims that the current rice supply in the market has begun to grow and is approaching normal conditions. This was conveyed by Bayu after monitoring the condition of rice stocks at Johar Market Karawang.

According to Bayu, the additional supply of market operations or rice stabilization of Supply and Food Prices (SPHP) is 300 tons per day, making rice supplies in Karawang close to normal supply as usual.

"This is approaching the normal supply here, which is an average of 1,000 tons per day," said Bayu in an official statement, Wednesday, February 28.

Bayu said, previously the supply in Johar Market was only 500 tons per day, with the addition of rice for market operations or SPHP 300 tons to 800 tons per day.

Meanwhile, Secretary of the Johar Karawang Acin Rice Traders Association, said that currently the condition of rice prices in the market has decreased by Rp1,000 to Rp1,500 per kilogram (kg).

Acin said that for local rice, Demak's price had dropped from 14,500 per kg to Rp. 13,500 per kg. Meanwhile, premium rice, which was previously Rp. 16,000 per kg, has now become Rp. 14,500 per kg.

Furthermore, according to Acin, the addition of Bulog rice supply at Johar Market has a major impact on the decline in rice prices.

"Johar Karawang Market is a wholesale producer market which also affects the condition of the expansion in Jabodetabek," he said.
