PT PLN (Persero) inaugurated Hydrogen Refueling Station (HRS) or the first Hydrogen Charging Station in Indonesia today, Wednesday, February 21.
On this occasion, PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo compared the operational costs of gasoline, electric cars and hydrogeneous fuel cells EVs per 1 km.
Darmawan said that by utilizing the excess production of green hydrogen plants managed by PLN, the cost of hydrogen car fuel is only Rp. 276 per km, much lower than gasoline cars at a cost of Rp. 1300 per km and much lower than electric cars of Rp. 555 per km.
"If we use 1 km of fuel, the cost is Rp. 1,300. If we use an electric vehicle, home charging costs around Rp. 350-400 per 1 km. If we use an ultra fast charging of Rp. 555 per km," Darmawan said in his remarks, Wednesday, February 21.
Darmawan added, currently PLN has 22 generating units that produce 203 tons of hydrogen per year. Of these 203 tons, 75 tons are used for cooling generators while the excess production of 128 tons is planned for filling hydrogen cars.
The average specific fuel consumption for hydrogen cars is estimated at 0.8 kg per 100 km so that if it is assumed that 1 hydrogen car covers 100 km per day, the excess production of green hydrogen produced by PLN plants can serve 438 cars per ton.

"And if the 1 liter fuel for CO2 emissions is 2.4 kg. So for 1 km it is around 2.4 about 240 grams. If this is the emission, it is 0. Because it uses green hydrogen," Darmawan explained.
Regarding HRS Senayan, said Darmawan, there are 3 HRS services, including refueling services for hydrogen cars, electric car and hydrogen center charging suits, which are the first and most complete hydrogen training centers in Indonesia.
"Currently HRS is used based on 350 bars of pressure and will then be added to HRS based on 700 abr so that it can increasingly serve the needs of hydrogen-based vehicles," concluded Darmawan.
