The 2024 Election Is Conducive, ALFI Wants The Elected President Of The Republic Of Indonesia To Build Cheap Logistics

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Logistics & Forwarder Association (ALFI) has high hopes for the new government in 2024-2029. The breakthrough in the logistics sector is something business actors are waiting for.

In the modern trade era, logistic efficiency is the main key to a country's economy. The more efficient the distribution of goods, the cheaper logistics costs will be.

"We from ALFI hope that the President and Vice President will be elected later to be able to bring a better Indonesian logistics ecosystem," said ALFI General Chair Akbar Djohan, in a written statement, Monday, February 19.

As is known, one of the biggest challenges faced by the logistics sector in Indonesia is that logistics costs are still high.

Meanwhile, Akbar Djohan, who is also the Head of the Logistics and Supply Chain of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, explained that the cause of the high national logistics costs among them has not yet created connectivity between ports that provide certainty of services.

In addition, it is necessary to standardize the digitization of major port services. The last factor that causes expensive logistics costs is the undistribution of industries in Eastern Indonesia.

So if that happens, there will be a balance of cargo traffic from west to east, or vice versa. That way, logistics costs can go down.

"This is the main thing that must be corrected by the elected president," he stressed.

As an effort to ensure business continuity, ALFI also appreciates the performance of stakeholders ranging from the General Election Commission (KPU), the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu), the TNI/Polri, to people who have held the 2024 General Election conducively.

"On behalf of the people who are players in the national logistics industry, from Sabang to Merauke, we appreciate the holding of elections that are fair, transparent, and uphold democratic values in Indonesia," he continued.

In addition, ALFI also congratulated Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who are ahead of the quick count version and are currently still ahead in calculating the KPU's real count.

"We are trying our best to implement the big vision of logistics and the Indonesian supply chain. And we are ready to collaborate with the leadership under Prabowo-Gibran if later the results of the KPU's real count state that the candidate pair is the winner," he concluded.
