Tourism Fund Presidential Decree Targeted To Be Completed In March 2024

JAKARTA - The government will inaugurate a special tourism fund or the Indonesia Tourism Fund (ITF) will be inaugurated by the government this year. The inauguration was carried out after the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) was issued in March 2024.

Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Kartika Wirjoatmodjo said the formation of the Indonesia Toursm Fund or the end of tourism funds had been discussed. It is targeted that Presidential Regulation (Perpres) related to the Tourism Fund can be published next month.

"It is hoped that in March we will complete the Presidential Decree and this year it will be operational," he said at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 7.

Tiko, Kartika Wirjoatmodjo's nickname, said that the Presidential Decree is also the legal basis for the establishment of the Indonesian Tourism Fund Public Service Agency (BLU).

"We have indeed initiated the Indonesia Tourism Fund which has been decided in a limited meeting and now we are encouraging the presidential regulation to form a BLU institution with the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and the Ministry for Tourism and Creative Economy," he said.

Furthermore, Tiko said that the Indonesia Tourism Fund will become a new source of funding in the national tourism sector. Especially for international standard activities such as MotoGP.

"This will be a source of funding such as the MotoGP event and become a catalyst for creating new events in Indonesia," he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf), Sandiaga Uno said the government would spend a budget of IDR 2 trillion to the Indonesian Tourism Fund.

Furthermore, Sandi said the fresh funds were used to encourage tourism in the country through various events.

"For the Tourism Fund, last week I just reported to the President, this is moderate or in the finalization process and we hope that later we will get an acceleration from the allocation, because initially it was only around Rp. 2 trillion to support events," said Sandiaga.
