Long Weekend, Jasa Marga Predicts 905,392 Vehicles Leave Jabotabek

JAKARTA - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk (JSMR) predicts as many as 905,392 vehicles will leave the Jabotabek area during the momentum of the 2024 Chinese New Year and Isra Mikraj holidays.

Jasa Marga's Corporate Communication & Community Development Group Head Lisye Octaviana explained, the increase in vehicle volume is estimated to occur in the period H-1 Isra Miraj 2024 to D+2 Chinese New Year 2024 or on February 7, 2024 to February 12, 2024, which jumped to 6.3 percent compared to normal traffic (traffic).

"This figure is the cumulative number of traffic flow from the four Main Toll Gates (GT), namely Cikupa GT (to Merak), Ciawi GT (to Puncak), Cikampek Utama GT (to Trans Java) and Kalihurip Utama GT (to Bandung).

Related to this, Lisye said that her party ensures the readiness of toll road operations services to run optimally, especially on toll roads that have the potential to become favorite tourist destinations for road users during long holidays.

"We also increase the number of officers and mobile reader to increase the transaction capacity at the main toll gates/barriers. Not only at toll gates, we anticipate the potential for congestion in lanes by placing officers at density-prone points on favorite toll roads to accelerate the handling of vehicle disturbances in lanes and regulate traffic even faster," Lisye said as quoted from Jasa Marga's official website, Wednesday, February 7.

Lisye added that her party also plans to implement a number of traffic engineering, such as contra flow which will be carried out based on police discretion.

Meanwhile, for the distribution of traffic leaving Jabotabek from all three directions, namely the majority of 424,918 vehicles or 47 percent of vehicles heading East (Trans Java and Bandung), 260,403 or 29 percent of vehicles heading West (Merak) and 220,071 vehicles or 24 percent of vehicles heading South (Puncak).

The following are the details of the prediction of traffic distribution on a number of Jasa Marga Group toll roads during the Chinese New Year and Isra Miraj 2024 holidays:

- East (Trans Java) direction

In its report, Jasa Marga predicts that traffic leaving Jabotabek heading towards Trans Java via GT Cikampek Utama Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road will increase by 191,632 vehicles or 17.3 percent from normal traffic.

- Bandung direction

Traffic leaving Jabotabek heading towards Bandung via GT Kalihurip Utama Cipularang Toll Road is predicted to increase to 233,287 vehicles or 20 percent of normal traffic.

Meanwhile, cumulatively, the total traffic leaving Jabotabek from the direction of Trans Java and Bandung through the two GT increased by 424,918 vehicles or 18.8 percent from normal traffic.

- West (Merak) direction

Traffic leaving Jabotabek heading towards Merak via GT Cikupa Tangerang-Merak Toll Road with 260,403 vehicles or 6.2 percent lower than normal traffic.

- South (Puncak) direction

The number of vehicles leaving Jabotabek heading towards Puncak via GT Ciawi Jagorawi Toll Road increased by 220,071 vehicles or 1.8 percent from normal traffic.
