JAKARTA - Special Staff to the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Arya Sinulingga opened his voice about the issue of BUMN being used as a cooperative. He said, making state-owned companies a cooperative is a strange idea.

The reason, continued Arya, is that there are around 1.6 million BUMN employees who depend on their fate in state-owned companies.

"Indeed, the idea is strange to want to make SOEs a cooperative, and create 1.6 million employees of all unemployed SOEs and not to mention there are so many third parties who support SOEs, how many million families will be disturbed by the idea," he told reporters, written Tuesday, February 6.

Arya also denied the news that SOEs would be used as cooperatives. According to Arya, the issue circulated from one of the success teams (timses) of presidential candidate pairs (candidates).

Furthermore, Arya emphasized that his party had no plans to turn SOEs into cooperatives. Arya also denied that SOE Minister Erick Thohir was 'twisting' the form of a state-owned company.

"Ide has made SOEs a cooperative, said Mr. Erick twisting. That's not true," said Arya.

Arya said there were massive efforts related to the spread of the issue of turning SOEs into cooperatives. Based on his search, there are 100 mass media that are said to have spread the news.
